Caring for Binoculars

Great binoculars can be fun to use. Properly cared for binoculars will last for years. Here is 11 tips to help.
1. Use the case that came with the binoculars to prevent banging and to help keep them clean.
2. Keep the rubber eye cups in the up position when not in use.
3. Use the protective lens covers to keep the lenses from becoming scratched.
4. Protect your binoculars from inclement weather.
5. Protect your binoculars from banging especially if they are waterproof as this knocks the protective nitrogen loose and makes the waterproofing not working.
6. When using your binoculars use the neck strap to prevent accidentally being dropped.
7. Remove all water from the binoculars with a soft cloth such as those made for the lenses of cameras.
8. Store your binoculars at room temperature.
9. Use a soft camel hair brush to clean your binoculars once a month.
10. Use lens cleaning cloths on the lenses. Do not use paper.
11. Have a professional recalibrate your binoculars as needed.
12. If the lens does not come totally clean use window cleaner on a soft cloth and rub briskly. Do not put the window cleaner directly onto the binoculars.
13. Remove the eyecups gently and clean the whole lens on a regular basis.
14. Check the neck strap for signs of wear. Replace as needed.
With proper care great quality binoculars will last a long time. Make sure and take care of them properly to extend the life of your binoculars.
